Ongoing  Every two years the Vermont Arts Council invites accomplished individual artists and artist groups to apply for designation as a “Vermont Arts Council Juried Artist.” Juried Artist designation is open to artists of all artistic disciplines. Artists wishing to become Juried may also apply for designation in three optional “areas of expertise” and must be evaluated by a peer review panel. The optional areas of expertise are Education, Social Service, and Design Team. Receiving these Juried designations communicates to presenters, exhibitors, educational institutions, social service organizations, and design project managers that you are an outstanding professional artist with solid experience in a variety of traditional and/or non-traditional settings.
Additional Benefits of Becoming a Juried Artist
•     Makes Council grant applications easier for organizations or schools wishing to hire you, since the artistic support material requirement does not need to be submitted.
•     Additional consideration is given to Council grant applications hiring Vermont Juried Artists.
•     Many Council grant programs are specifically designed to employ Juried Artists.
•     Performing and Literary artists who are listed as Juried Artists in the Arts Directory are eligible to participate in the New England Foundation for the Arts' (NEFA) New England States Touring (NEST) Program.
•     Council activities and programs occasionally provide opportunities for artists for which Juried Artists are given first consideration.
For guidelines and more information on becoming a juried artist go to: http://www.vermontartscouncil.org/directory/juried_artist_info.php

Ongoing ART In Embassies Program
The ART in Embassies Program promotes the cultural identity of America’s art and artists by borrowing original works of art by U.S. citizens for display in U.S. embassy residences worldwide. Each ART exhibition is developed collaboratively between a United States ambassador and one of our curators. We select both image-based and abstract work in all media.
Information: The length of a loan is approximately two and one-half to three years, which coincides with the average length of an ambassador’s tenure. ART in Embassies hires professional fine art handlers to assemble, pack, crate and safely ship works of art to and from each embassy. ART insures each work of art during its transit to and from the embassy and while it is on exhibit at the residence.
Award: Lenders are not compensated financially. Their participation is documented in ART exhibition publications and/or on the ART web site. A wall label accompanies each work of art and identifies both the artist and lender.
Submit: Go to aiep.state.gov/index.cfm first. To submit images to ART staff for consideration in upcoming exhibitions please e-mail .jpg or .gif images of your works no larger than 50k in size, to: artinembassies@state.gov. Do not send multiple emails (include all attachments in one email). Include object information, and an artist’s statement, resume or biography. Please do not expect an immediate response. ART in Embassies archives submissions for future consideration.

Please make sure that the organization, exhibit or happening exists before sending slides/digital images or fees. Read the prospectus thoroughly for all information regarding the release of copyrights or payment of commissions. Inquire about physical location, shipping fees, hanging fees, handling fees, jurors, return of artwork and insurance. Be diligent.
